Vogue

I’ve been ridiculously busy this week with essays and uni rubbish, so I haven’t really had a chance to work on a hard hitting, in-depth blog post about some life changing issue that’s troubling me. Instead I have decided, in true Ricky Gervais style, to pay a little homage to my cat, Vogue.

There she is, with her grumpy little face. She always looks grumpy, which is the thing that just makes you want to smush her all the time. That and the fact she’s all fat and fluffy.

Now strictly speaking, she’s not really my cat. She’s more of a family cat. She was originally my sister’s cat until she decided to abandon us all to live in France. So now she lives at my mums house, where I don’t live, but I’m there all the time and will go there specifically to see her so in my eyes, that makes her my cat too. And she clearly loves me (in that condescending way that only cats can) and will sometimes look so happy to see me that I can’t help but laugh. The rest of the time she just looks at me in a way that says “oh great, who let THAT in.”
Anyway, this little ball of fuzz has an uncanny ability to make me feel better about almost anything in life. She’s a bit of a weirdo as far as cats are concerned, as she absolutely loves being picked up and cuddled and fussed pretty much all of the time. And she likes being close to your face, which is mildly unpleasant thanks to her fishy breath, but mostly it’s really sweet. She can be the cutest little fluff ball one minute, and the next she’s growling and biting you whilst holding your arm with the most freakishly strong little paws. And then she’ll be purring and rubbing up against you wanting attention again. Absolute psychopath. And yet, when she decides to come and sit on my lap and catch up whatever programme I’ve  asked my mum to record for me, I feel like it’s an absolute privelege and Bastet forbid I move to make myself a drink or go to the loo. Even reaching down to pick up my cup of tea warrants a whinge and a set of claws in the leg reminding me of her presence.

Needless to say, I absolutely love my little Vogueins! I think everyone should have an animal in their life, they are the best companions and can’t tell you to “shut up” when you’re being annoying, which is a nice change! I also think anyone that could hurt something so beautiful and pure deserves the dirtiest and nastiest punishment possible. How could you do anything bad to that little face?!

I’ll stop gushing now. I bet you didn’t think I could ramble on about a cat for that long, did you? And that was the edited version! Anyway, I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and if you’re not then maybe you should hug your pet or visit an animal sanctuary and get yourself some therapy!
